Noticeboard

Patients, please be aware- doctors often send you messages on the back of your prescription slips so please check for notes.

Please be aware that you cannot request prescriptions through the MJOG Appointment Reminder Texts system. If you wish to order a prescription, please email or write to the practice.

Appointments

We provide a few book on the day appointments which are released each morning for urgent medical problems only. Pre-bookable appointments are available up to 3 weeks in advance. We also offer early morning commuter and late evening surgeries.

Patients’ can book routine GP appointments on-line or via our reception team.

Surgery Opening Times

Nurse Appointments

At River Wey Medical Practice it has been decided not to allow nurse appointments to be booked on-line. The reason for this is that all nurse appointments require different lengths of time according to which procedure is being carried out and some of these procedures require double slots. Please call 01252 737387 to speak to one of our receptionists to book an appointment with one of our practice nurses.

Blood Pressure Checks

Our local pharmacy has informed us that they are vey happy to carry out blood pressure checks and give you a print out of the reading, which when returned to us, can be added to your records.

Interpreters

The Primary Care Trust has arranged a telephone translation service for those patients unable to speak English. Most languages are covered. Signing interpreters are also available by prior arrangement for those patients with hearing difficulties.

Safety and Comfort

We ask parents to exercise control over their children at all times while in the surgery. This is to avoid accidents occurring and out of consideration for our other patients.

Fire alarms are tested every Thursday morning in the Hospital & Centre for Health, usually between 09:30 and 10:00.

Hospital & Other Referrals

Usually your doctor will book your NHS appointment during your consultation under Choose & Book. Should you choose a private referral, your doctor may ask you to make your own appointment and collect a letter for the specialist. We ask you to allow 5 working days before your appointment so that the letter can be prepared.

Patient Choice

If you and your GP decide that you need to see a specialist for further treatment, you can now choose where to have your treatment from a list of hospitals or clinics. As well as hospitals, your GP may also be able to refer you to community-based services, such as GPs with Special Interests or community clinics. Alternatively, if your GP decides to refer you to a Clinical Assessment Service and you then need to go to hospital, you will be able to choose from this list of hospitals. The PCT is responsible for the range of service providers available to patients.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
